🌟A Note from Miles, Co-Founder & CEO @ Relai

Pittsburgh has really started to feel like home for Relai.

There is something about building here that just clicks. The people, the pace, the willingness to try things early. It has created real momentum for us, not just in what we are building, but in how fast we are able to learn and move.

Over the past several months, more of Relai has moved out of the lab and across the city. New Exchange Zones, new apps, new workflows. It is all starting to stack in a way that feels meaningful.

If you are in Pittsburgh, you will start to see more of us very soon!

Thanks for being part of it 🖤💛

Cheers,
Miles

🚨 What’s new?? Bakery Square Exchange Zone Launch

We are launching a new Exchange Zone at Bakery Square in Pittsburgh on April 1st (tomorrow).

Bakery Square is one of the most dynamic locations in the city. It brings together offices, retail, fitness, and daily foot traffic in a way that naturally creates opportunities for asynchronous exchange.

This location is primed to support a wide range of everyday needs. Marketplace handoffs, shared resources, community-driven use cases, and everything in between.

It is exactly the kind of environment where Exchange Zones are meant to live.

Questions We’ve Been Getting:

1) What is changing about how people use physical space? More interactions are becoming asynchronous. Relai is built for that shift.

2) Where can I find EZs near me? You can explore active locations using our featured map and through area-based apps like EZ PGH.

3) How can I get involved? Use EZ PGH, share feedback, or connect us with locations that would benefit from an Exchange Zone.

We launched the EZ PGH app, a Pittsburgh-specific way to access Exchange Zones across the city.

This marks a broader shift toward area-based apps. These apps make it easier to interact with Exchange Zones based on where you are, with features and flows that reflect how people in that area actually move and interact day to day.

Think of it like parking apps or shared bike systems. Most cities have their own version, tailored to local patterns and behavior. At the same time, within that same city, a university, office building, or venue might run its own system designed for its specific community.

That is how EZ apps and Relai 3 apps will coexist.

EZ PGH is the city layer. Relai 3 apps are the community or workflow specific layer. Together, they create a more flexible and complete system.

If you are in Pittsburgh, this is the easiest way to get started.

We also launched EZ ATL as we expand this model across our existing footprint.

⚙️ Building in Pittsburgh

Being part of the Carnegie Mellon University Robotics Institute Pathways Fellowship has played a huge role in how we build today.

  • It has given us hands-on experience and support to take control of our hardware pipeline in a real way.

  • We now design, assemble, and execute our machinery and electronics in Pittsburgh. That includes producing the physical components needed for our systems and owning the full integration process.

  • At this point, the only parts of our supply chain that sit outside of our control are sheet metal production and freight logistics.

Everything else is happening here. That shift has changed how fast we can move and how confidently we can scale.

🫶 New Relai 3 App: Mutual Aid 412

Mutual Aid 412 is now live on iOS.

This is one of the best examples of how versatile the Relai platform can be. It is a community-first use case that shows how Exchange Zones can support entirely different types of coordination and support systems.

Relai 3 is not limited to one category of use case. It is meant to stretch.

We want to see more creative applications like this. If you have an idea, whether it is for your community, your business, or something new entirely, we are open to building it together.

🛠️ Expanding PORTAL

As Relai 3 continues to grow, we have seen strong interest in expanding what PORTAL can offer beyond infrastructure management.

A consistent theme has been sales and CRM needs. We listened and launched a Relai sales tool that is now available to all PORTAL users.

This is an early step, but an important one. It is proof that Relai can evolve into a more comprehensive and dynamic tool for communities building on top of Exchange Zones.
